Aprons for May Faire

Share & Comment

These aprons are sitting in a basket, waiting to be sold at May Faire, our preschool fundraiser, this Sunday.

May Faire is the annual spring festival of the Asheville Waldorf community and proceeds benefit four different Waldorf schools in the area, including Dandelion Hill, which is Maia's (much beloved) preschool. If you live in the area and are looking for something fun to do with the kids this Sunday afternoon, then I hope you will come. I will be at the children's craft table doing flower printing with the kiddos (at least at the beginning) — please come say hi!

Here are the details:

  • Sunday, May 23rd from 2-5 pm
  • at The Unity Center in Fletcher
  • (2041 Old Fanning Bridge Rd, Mills River, NC)
  • Cost is $3 per family.
  • Here's the flyer if you want something to print out.

Besides flower printing, there will be lots of fun stuff for kids to do, including garland making, a scavenger hunt, ribbon wand making, silk dying, and a fishing pond game. Handcrafted items will be available for sale (including my children's aprons), as well as yummy food to eat.

Entertainment will include John Vorus playing the didgeridoo, Todd Crowe on the ukelele, Mary Sparks playing the hammered dulcimer, and Maria Wood doing a Kindermusik show. There will also be maypole dances at 4pm accompanied by the music of Rita Black from Musicke Antiqua.

Hope to see you there!

Hi Jean, I am from India (Delhi) and recently found your blog. I too am a mother of a 4 year old girl – Pari – and we love doing art and craft activities day in and day out!
The day I found your blog, I subscribed to it and now wait eagerly every morning, my time, to see a new post from you. It’s amazing to see how much creativity and good cheer you nurture in your home. What a wonderful environment you are creating for Maia. (yes, I know the names of your kids now as I have been reading your posts for the past 10 days or so..everyday..!)
It’s really heart warming to see the creative pursuits of Maia. I especially liked the A-line dress with big pockets with drawings by Maia. They were so cool.
I have been doing lot of art and craft, music, dance and baking etc with my daughter – Pari. But now, I am also so inspired to try my hand on sewing – thanks to your wonderful sewing projects recently.
You are a very inspiring mother! Way to go, dear.
    Cheers :)
