Chalkboard Paint Art Storage Bins

Take a look! These Melissa and Doug nesting boxes were repurposed into art supply bins that can be written on (with a coat of chalkboard paint). Although I wish I had thought of the idea (genius!), they were made by Shawn Ledington Fink who gave me permission to post her photos. She painted the nesting boxes with chalk paint, turning an outgrown toy into a great functional tool for her children's art space. How cool is that?

Shawn says she's writing a new mantra on the boxes every day.

I love chalkboard paint!

I love these! I’ve been planning to scrounge some BIG pieces of plywood somewhere and paint them with chalkboard paint for big outside chalkboards that we can lean against the side of the house. Did I get that idea here? Maybe!
Once we have the paint I’m sure there will be a lot of things wanting to be turned into chalkboards.

I love it! I will have to get some chalk paint. I even had our nesting boxes put aside for goodwill because we lost two of them. =) Thanks for giving them a new birth! We will be reposting this soon.

    They’re darling!
This also covers up the toxic barium in Melissa and Doug products’ paint too. Their toys have been repeatedly recalled in Canada because of it.–Examiner~y2009m11d22-Three-Melissa-and-Doug-toys-recalled-in-Canada-for-barium-in-paint Lucky for them, the US never tests for it (even though it’s illegal for use on toys here too) so most US buyers are never even aware of how often dangerous levels are found in their products — and when recalls have been issued M&D has provided absolutely no notice to the public on their web site.
I know that last part is pretty unrelated, but M&D as a company always makes me see red. :)
