A dress full of pockets

Right after I declared a blogging break, I realized I had an article and tutorial in the spring issue of Rhythm of the Home to link to. It's titled A dress full of pockets and is about a dress I sewed for Maia to hold her nature walk treasures, explorer tools, or just little notes and gifts for me. Enjoy!

So cute! I just started adding pockets to the dresses in my Etsy shop for the same reason. My kids love their pockets for trinkets!

Great idea! I think I’m going to modify this and make an “explorer’s apron”, that way she can put it on for any walk, and it’s not reliant on wearing that particular dress that day.
Thanks for the inspiration! I really adore your blog. I’ve found so many ideas to use.

I love this, it reminds me of a dress I had when I was a little girl. I am so motivated now to sew clothes for my upcoming child! I love all the posts and ideas!

Fabulous! This spring fever I’m feeling could be put to great use with this project! Can’t wait to have a reason to use those extra scraps of cute fabric. I think I’ll make a pillowcase dress so she can put it on top of warmer things if needed. Thanks for the great idea!

How fun! You come up with the best ideas, Jean! My daughter likes to carry Easter baskets on our walks, and I bet she’d love a dress like this as she gets older. Hope you’re all feeling better.

This is a great post. Nature walks are a favorite of ours and I always pick a dress with pockets for my daughter to wear, since she loves to collect things. Remembering to check those pockets before I wash the dress…well that’s a problem!

Oh you absolutely must read Quentin Blake’s Angelica Sprocket – it will go so well with this dress!

Okay, so first of all I just really love your blog! So SO much!! Secondly, brilliant with the dress full of pockets. My little girl is big on dresses and tights right now and when she puts a dress on and realize it doesn’t have pockets she freaks out. I think I need to make some new spring dresses. Love it. Thirdly, a question. Do you run an actual charged toddler art class? Or is it more of a volunteer thing just for friends and fun? Love the idea, just trying to figure out what direction we should go in. Thanks in advance!

Okay, I just looked around and found all of your suggestions about starting a group, so I am reading through that now. I’d still love to hear back from ya, but I am reading all of your stuff first, thanks, love it!
