Maia has been creating a toy for Daphne over the past couple of weeks. She made the first part in school—a wooden seesaw out of a paint stirring stick and some wood scraps—and added some playmobil figures and a coat of paint at home. I love how carefully she's been thinking about and working on this!
First, Maia mostly just played with the seesaw, using it as a catapault to launch the little playmobil people across the room (over and over and over). Then she taped them down in an attempt to add them to the toy for Daphne's sake. And, finally, asked me to get out the glue gun since they weren't staying on well.
After she glued the people down, she painted the seesaw with red, white, and purple tempera paint. And wrapped it in layers of giftwrap, bows, and far more scotch tape than necessary.
Are your kids doing any gift making?
