Do you subscribe to FamilyFun magazine? I have off and on over the years and always find fun ideas to try out within it's colorful pages. This time when my issue arrived, I was excited not only because of the cover topic:
Creativity Begins at Home
Totally my bag!
But also because I was one of the five experts/parents interviewed and featured in the article!
This article on Creating Creative Kids was written by Catherine Newman, author of Waiting for Birdy and the blog, ben and birdy.
Update: Here's a link to the online version of Creating Creative Kids.
Here's my page…
…including my philosophy on children's art and creativity.
Overall, I think it's an article well worth reading. And not just because I'm quoted! There are so many great ideas for encouraging children's creativity here, by Catherine and by the five folks interviewed (my friend Rachelle from TinkerLab being one of them!).
Plus, hey! My autumn leaves (one of our all-time favorite fall crafts!) were featured earlier in the magazine in their Make It section!
And if you're on the fence about picking up a copy, you can recoup the cover price with this one little Michael's coupon that's conveniently located next to my autumn leaves. I saved over $10 with mine just today buying a set of acrylic paints.

September 20, 2013 at 7:25 amI subscribe and love this magazine. A lot of the crafts are for older kids but I’ve started making a binder with ideas for when my kids are older. This month’s also had a craft themed birthday party, which was great b/c I am doing that for my daughter who will be 5 and it gave me more ideas. I was wondering if that was you in the article…I couldn’t remember last names. So cool!
