So, as you may know, I get crazy inspired by Autumn leaves. I just love them.
Yesterday, Daphne and I used a low-key sick day to make some colorful Autumn leaf art. And today we’ll probably make more.
Here’s the super simple step-by-step tutorial in case you want to give this a try yourself.
Autumn Leaf Art with Chalk Pastels
Start by drawing a leaf with the black Sharpie. Large is good. See if you can fill the page with your leaf. And add the vein detail.
When you are happy with your leaf drawing, get out the chalk pastels.
Daphne colored larger areas, then used her hands to explore blending and color mixing with the powdery chalk pastels.
I used the vein sections to keep colors separate.
And then blended the colors a bit. With my fingers.
Then blew the extra chalk dust off outside.
It was a peaceful art activity for a slow day.
And provided the perfect Autumn decor to hang above the mantel.
Along with all of our doodled tissue paper lanterns.
So, how about letting Autumn inspire you? And make some colorful leaf art?
