Bubble foam is an easy and fun sensory material for kids. Use tear-free bubble bath and water to whip up this fluffy foam!

Have you made bubble foam? It might be our new favorite sensory material! And it’s perfect for summer, when we bring the sensory play outside.

Making bubble foam is simple and fun. You need water, tear-free bubble bath, and food coloring to create this colorful, fluffy foam.

Once made, this sensory material keeps kids entertained and relatively mess-free (it’s soap, after all!). Adding some toys or scoops and bowls helps them use their hands and imagination.

Continue mixing until the mixture turns into a thick, fluffy foam. This usually takes a few minutes.

  3. Pour into bin

Once the foam is ready, transfer it to a larger container or sensory bin.

We like to make several batches of different colored foam and add them to the bin together. They look amazing layered in a rainbow, and kids can do some color mixing while they play!

That’s it! Now you’re ready to play! We like to add either little plastic animals or scoops, cups, and spoons for playing. When playtime is over, simply rinse off the foam with water.

A note about safety: be sure to supervise kids during play to ensure they don’t ingest the foam. And if you have kids who still test things out with their mouths, try taste-safe aquafaba!
