Are you looking for some creative handmade gift ideas for Mom? We’ve compiled a great list of ideas for kids to craft this week that are sure to become treasured gifts. This round up of beautiful ideas comes from some of our favorite accounts on Instagram, some of whom have written guest posts for the blog!

Mother’s Day Craft Ideas

1. Fabric flowers from Purple Twig Studio

These fabric flowers are made similar to paper mache. We offered the children many different varieties of pre-cut gigantic petal shaped fabric to choose from. Those were dipped into fabric stiffener and laid onto balloons. You could also use diluted Mod Podge.

I also used chopsticks with wire wrapped around them to make the stigma and black paper to make the stamen. That’s Bonnie’s great idea from Make-It-Your-Own-Blog. It stands out beautifully and graphically against the colorful petals.

2. Rainbow Bouquets for mom from Riverside Art Studio

I remember decoupaging jars as a kid. It’s such a fun way to brighten & decorate glass jars from the recycling bin. And those coffee filter flowers are beautiful additions that create such a colorful gift for mom.

3. Queen Mom Portraits for Mother’s Day from Art Bar

These Mother’s Day portraits make wonderful kid-made gifts, especially with the added touch of the crown! A fun idea for preschoolers through grade school!

4. Giant coffee filter flowers from Purple Twig Studio

These giant coffee filter flowers are amazing! (You could also use regular size filters).

“We laid the filter onto a balloon and then painted it using diluted acrylic paint (diluted so much that it looks like watercolor paint). We then layered another coffee filter on top and painted that one. Once dried we added a chopstick through the middle and attached fringed paper to make the stamen.”

5. Pressed flowers in Air Dry Clay

My kids & I made our own versions of this beautiful project, but be sure to check out Ali’s lovely version which was our inspiration at Creation Space. This is a simple, delicate wall hanging for mom that my kids loved making.
