We love to bake during the holidays. Kids love to bake too. And holiday baking is especially fun and cozy, offering a wonderful opportunity to connect and have fun together.
But sometimes, trying to bake with your kids can be tricky. And rather messy. We promise that the more you do it with your kids, the easier it will become!
To help you towards that goal, we have 5 baking ideas to try with your kids this holiday season. They’re all activities that your kids can participate in the process and are lots of fun to make!
The finished products are yummy and can be wrapped up for handmade gifts too!
Christmas Baking Ideas
1. Gingerbread House with Graham Crackers
Host a holiday party and kids can decorate their own adorable gingerbread houses with this easy method!
2. Make Your Own Candy Cane Lollipops
These are simple and easy to make with three ingredients and lollipop sticks. Wrap them up, these make great holiday gift for friends and family!
3. Decorate Christmas cookies
Growing up as a kid, these cookies were a special tradition in my family. The recipe came from my grandma and was passed to my mom and then to myself and my brothers. Now I make them with my own kids and nieces + nephews at the holidays. It wouldn’t be Christmas without them.
We use a simple powdered sugar + milk icing and piles of sprinkles (that we find for days in corners of the kitchen)!
You likely have similar traditions that make baking special for your family. These memories of making and baking together are important for kids––share what you love!
4. Chocolate Pretzel Christmas Trees
This is a delicious holiday treat that kids can easily make––and it’s hard to go wrong with chocolate and pretzels! Fun to make with the littlest bakers.
5. Gingerbread Cookies
This might be a tradition for your family for the holiday season. These cookies are a fun to cut out and decorate during the post-holiday lull. We’ve made these for New Year’s and created new traditions to look forward to now.
