Learn how to do bunny painting with this trendy scraper art project. It’s an easy process art activity with colorful, unique results!
From the first time we tried scrape painting, we were absolutely hooked! In fact, we had so much fun making spooky cats and ghosts for Halloween, we knew we had to try a bunny version, too.
This is a super quick and creative way for kids (or adults!) to make sweet, colorful bunnies using just a few supplies. The best part? No drawing skills are required! Just squeeze, scrape, and decorate.
Let’s hop into it!

How to do Easy Bunny Painting for Easter

MATERIALS
- Thick paper (cardstock or watercolor paper works best)
- Acrylic or tempera paint in squeeze bottles
- A stiff scraper tool (an old gift card, scrap cardboard, or a plastic spatula)
- Crayons for bunny faces and other details
- Paper, placemat, or tray to cover your work space
INSTRUCTIONS
- Prep your space
Before you begin, cover your work surface. This will help keep the mess to a minimum.
- Squeeze the paint
Start by placing your paper vertically. Near the top of the paper, squeeze three small semi-circle lines of paint: two for the ears and one for the bunny’s head. Keep them close together so they will blend slightly when scraped.
- Scrape the paint
Take your scraper tool and gently drag it downward from the top of the paint blobs. As you pull the paint down, it will naturally create a soft, textured body shape for the bunny. You can experiment with different pressures and angles to get unique bunny forms!
- Add the bunny’s face
Once the paint is dry, use a crayon or marker to draw eyes, a tiny nose, and a simple mouth. Don’t forget the whiskers!
Alternative Method: Try drawing a simple bunny face in crayon first, then adding paint lines and scraping
Tips for Extra Fun:
- Cut and decorate your paper into fun frames: We think these paintings look so cute as bunny portraits in decorated frames!
- Try different colors: Pastel pinks, blues, and purples make great springtime bunnies, but don’t be afraid to mix it up.
- Use glitter paint or add a sprinkle of fine glitter while the paint is still wet for some extra Easter sparkle.
- Make a bunny family: Experiment with different paint amounts and scrape techniques to create a group of bunnies in various sizes.
- Turn your artwork into Easter cards by folding your painted paper into a card and writing a message inside.

We love this how this scrape-painting technique is easy fun, and full of surprises- no two bunnies will ever be exactly the same! It’s a wonderful activity for kids and adults to enjoy together this Spring. If you give it a try, don’t forget to share your photos on Instagram and tag us @theartfulparent!
