Updated March 2024
Are you looking for some creative handmade gift ideas for Mom? We’ve compiled a great list of ideas for kids to craft this week that are sure to become treasured gifts.
This round up of beautiful ideas comes from some of our favorite accounts on Instagram, some of whom have written guest posts for the blog!
Mother’s Day Craft Ideas
1. Giant Fabric Flowers from Purple Twig Studio
These fabric flowers are made similarly to papier mâché. We offer the children many different varieties of fabric, pre-cut into gigantic petal shapes. Then we dip them into fabric stiffener (you can also use diluted Mod Podge) and lay onto balloons to get the rounded shape.
To make the stigma of the plant, you can use chopsticks wrapped with wire and black paper to make the stamen. Find out more from Make-It-Your-Own-Blog. These big, beautiful blooms make a lovely Mother’s Day bouquet!
2. Rainbow Bouquets in Colorful Jars for Mom from Riverside Art Studio
Use tissue paper, Mod Podge, and recycled mason jars to make sweet decoupaged jars. It’s such a fun way to brighten & decorate items from the recycling bin. And those coffee filter flowers are beautiful additions that create such a colorful gift for mom.
3. Queen Mom Portraits from Art Bar
These Mother’s Day portraits make wonderful kid-made gifts, especially with the added touch of the crown! A fun idea for preschoolers through grade school!
4. Paper Flowers with Tissue Paper
We love making these tissue paper flowers! All you need is a recycled egg carton, watercolors, pipe cleaners and tissue paper. The best thing about these flowers? They last forever!
5. Pressed Flowers in Air Dry Clay
My kids & I made our own versions of this beautiful project but be sure to check out the version where you use flowers to make prints in air dry clay for lovely pendants. This is a simple, delicate wall hanging for mom that kids love making.
6. Felt Succulent Garden from Purple Twig Studio
These little succulent gardens are so sweet! Simply cut and roll pieces of green felt to turn them into cute little succulent plants. Then arrange in a terra cotta planter for a long lasting decoration for Mom.
7. LOTS of Mother’s Day ideas from hello, Wonderful
Any number of these ideas would make a lovely gift for Mom! I especially think those floral portraits of mom would be really fun to make, along with some floral herb perfume!
8. Giant Watercolor Flowers
This is a great open-ended art project for kids, and you end up with a giant flower for mom! Use paper plates, decorated with markers and watercolors, to make bright and beautiful flowers!
9. Recycled Egg Carton Wreath
Anna has the whole tutorial on how to make an egg carton flower wreath over at Imagination Tree. This is such a great gift idea for mom, handmade by kids and totally unique.
10. Lace Painting from Redviolet Studio
This is a stunning process art activity & would make some beautiful wall art for mom. Catalina shares the whole tutorial here at The Artful Parent.
Which of these sweet ideas will you try with your kids?
