Wool Felt Bugs with Beads from an Artterro Eco Kit

We've explored and enjoyed several of Artterro's eco art kits over the past couple of years, including their creativity kit, several of their art journals, their bookmaking kit, their art dolls kit, and now their wool felt bug kit. There is always a surprising amount of creativity-inspiring goodness in each of their kits.

Artterro Bug Kit 1

The folks at Artterro sent us the felt bug kit to try out recently.

Artterro Felt Bug Kit 05

The kids opened the package and oohed and aahed over the contents and then immediately started hoarding the treasures (beads, sequins, wool felt balls, and fuzzy fabric pieces). I had to step in and ask them to put everything in the middle of the table saying they could each take just a couple of things at a time as they needed them and they were working on them.

Artterro Felt Bug Kit 08

That was somewhat successful, although Maia quickly strung many of the felt balls into a caterpillar (something I hadn't foreseen).

But it was okay. Daphne worked at a much more sedate pace and I ended up helping her rather than working on my own bug.

Artterro Felt Bug Kit 21

The kit says it's for ages 7+ and as I sat there helping Daphne turn her ideas into reality (um, doing exactly what my 4 year old told me to do) I thought that perhaps I should have saved the kit for when Maia had a friend her own age over.

But it actually worked out well and Daphne was really into the whole bug-making process even though she wanted/needed me to do the sewing for her.

Artterro Felt Bug Kit 17

So in the end, I was glad I had brought out the kit for Daphne as well as Maia. And it made me realize (once again) that just because there's a suggested age for a product, doesn't mean a younger children can't enjoy it just as much in their own way and at their own level.

Artterro Felt Bug Kit 25

Daphne's completed butterfly is pretty special. (The pink lace was added from our own stash because she decided the wings needed to be bigger and more in proportion with the face.)

Would your family like to try out one of these wool felt bug kits by Artterro? You can buy any of their fun eco art kits from their online shop. Or, to win the bug kit plus one more of your choice, see the giveaway details below…

The bugs look adorable. If we were to select another kit it would have to be the bookmaking kit. My daughter loves to write.

The art dolls or the collage jewelry kit would be awesome. My 7 yr old loves making jewelry and would have a great time with any of the kits though! Keeping in mind for Xmas!

  16. Erica says

Oh, man, which kid wouldn’t we love?!?!? I’m thinking the art garden kit would be fun to try, if for no other reason than it wouldn’t be hard to find a place to put the finished art:) Thanks for the giveaway!

Oh my, tough call! But I think the bugs are adorable! Also the bubble wands and creativity kit and….

  24. Rebecca Feucht says

Wow this is the first I’ve seen these and they are all so fun, but without a doubt I’d choose the bookmaker kit. My son has been obsessed with carrying a notebook with him at all times ever since he first watched blues clues. It’s almost a security item. He always has a way to play with his ideas and observations. The felt bug kit is sure to be little brothers favorite, although I’m sure the bugs would become little cars in his mind.

  25. Mary says

What a wonderful opportunity – thanks! My kids would love to try the book making kit, as they are very into mini-books right now.

  26. Andrea says

These are great! My son would really enjoy the felt bugs kit or creativity kit. He loves making up and hearing stories, but a little young for the bookmaking kit. Thanks for the opportunity!

  27. Kelly says

They all look like a lot of fun. Both my boys love to paint. I think the painting with wool kit would be great for them. And of course they love bugs.

  29. Tami says

We’ve had a number of their kits, and have really enjoyed them. I think we would pick the painting with wool kit (although the canvas storybook is a close second!) Thanks for the chance at the giveaway!

  30. Dreima says

Garden art! I am in charge of my school’s garden and we could use some art to liven it up. :)

My daughter absolutely loves crafts almost as much as all of her dolls… I believe she would thoroughly enjoy either the “doll” kit or the cute bugs. She is very intrigued by bugs. :)

We’d love the wool felt bug kit! My girls & I love finding different bugs when we’re playing outside, plus we love making crafts together – perfect combo ;)
