When the folks at Artterro Eco Art Kits, one of my longtime blog sponsors, asked me to review their bookmaking kit, I said “Heck yeah!”
After our previous experience with their art kits, and all the creativity it inspired (not to mention a beautiful finished product), I had a good feeling that we would love this one as well.
.
I set the bookmaking kit out for Maia, Daphne, and our friend Stella to explore after school this past week. They dived right in…
.
(By the way, notice Maia still wearing her self-designed purple monster costume, two years later?! The pants fit just fine, as they were a bit big to begin with, but the top is too small.)
.
.
First, they explored all the gorgeous papers in the kit, the sequins, beads, and colorful embroidery threads. And then the big girls, noting the name on the front of the kit, immediately began creating little picture books.
.
.
Maia made hers as a gift for Daphne, including pictures of a kitty, bird, moon, stars, and tree.
.
.
The next day, we made a slew of holiday cards, booklets, and (in Maia’s case) puppets.
There was a surprising amount of beautiful papers and other supplies packed into the bookmaking kit, something I remembered from the creativity kit we enjoyed last year. The materials really stretched into multiple projects and days.
.
Artterro’s art kits are made with high quality, ecological materials, minimally packaged in boxes made of recycled materials (that double as decorate-your-own frames!), and assembled at Goodwill Industries in Milwaukee by people with special needs, providing jobs for people who need them.
.
