Geoboard art is so fun to make. Create representational and abstract pictures, designs, and patterns with simple geoboards and rubber bands.
Updated August 2024
We got into geoboard art years ago when we bought our first set of geoboards with a friend. The kids went to town creating pictures with the little peg boards and colorful rubber bands.
They made shapes. And also designs and lines, stars and flowers, animals, people, houses, trees, and more!
Many teachers and homeschoolers like to use geoboards for math, but we especially like to make art with ours.
It’s almost a challenge to see if you can create a face or a flower out of the rubber bands and the geoboard.
Geoboard Art and Design for Kids
MATERIALS
- Geoboards, or make your own!
- Rubber bands in assorted colors and sizes
INSTRUCTIONS
- Gather your materials
Set your geoboard and rubber bands out on the table. This is a great activity to do as a family, or for kids to do at the kitchen table while you get dinner ready.
- Create!
Stretch the rubber bands across the pegs of the geoboard to create designs. Some packs of boards come with cards of designs for you to try, or maybe everyone in the family tries to make the same animal and then sees how different they all are! The options are endless.
That’s all there is to it! Geoboard art is so fun, so simple, and a great way to connect and create with your family.
