Snow days and almond cake

We just got a foot of snow over the last two days! This is the most I've seen since moving to North Carolina from Boston. So fun!! Maia is in seventh heaven. She's been going out several times a day to play in the snow.

She and Harry made a great big snowman and lots of snow angels.

And here's our snow day baking from yesterday — an almond cake from Nigella Lawson's How to be a Domestic Goddess. Yum. I'm trying (on the domestic goddess front) and occasionally succeed briefly. At least as long as you don't look at the rest of the house — which is draped with wet winter coats, boots, mittens, hats and who knows what else.

We’re under feet of snow here in greater DC–snowmen, snow angels, snow forts, snowballs…great fun! (So glad we didn’t have to drive anywhere…)

Nothing is more magical than a lot of snow! So glad your Maia gets to experience it! I hear you about the wet clothes scene… that’s how it is around here for about 5 months out of the year! Ackk! Your baking always looks spectacular!
