Sorry about the teaser the other day. I didn't mean to do that and shouldn't have said anything (until I was prepared to actually say something!). Anyway, my big, exciting announcement is that I'm going to write a book. Many of you have asked me over the years if I would. Or when I would. Or encouraged me to write one. It never quite seemed the right time for me timewise or kidwise or self-confidence wise. But now? Yes. I think I'm ready.

The book will be about encouraging children's art and creativity (big surprise) and will be published in the spring of 2013.

2013 seems terribly far away, especially as we're just dipping our toes into 2011. But as I think about the upcoming year, I'm thinking about it as the year of the book. A year of writing, of course, but also a year of self growth. A year of stretching my limits in new ways (can I really do this?!). A year in which I graduate from my little Canon PowerShot to a digital SLR camera (I have my eye on the Canon Rebel T2i) and really learn how to use it. And above all, a year of exploring art with the kiddos in my life.

So there you go. A book! I'm excited. A tad scared, but excited.

Congratulations!!! I’m also writing a book in 2011! We can bug each other and make sure that we are staying on task. My book is about Simple Living (well, there is more to it than that, but I’m keeping the bulk of it under wraps for now.)
    I wish you the best!

On the camera end, my husband & I wrote a photography course a few years ago…eeps! 4 years ago now! for twopeasinabucket.com that you might find helpful. It’s called “12 weeks to better photos” and is geared to those who are new to a digi SLR. Here’s the link:
    http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/cg_display.asp?g=2&seed_id=26134
You may have to be a member of the site to see it but I can send you the PDFs if you’re interested. We live in the Asheville area, too, so if you need help just give us a yelp!
Anyway, just a random thought. Good luck with the book!

Though it’s still a long way aways, I’ll be on the waiting list when your book comes out. And so pleased that you’ll be investing in yourself and your own creativity by purchasing a new camera. I know it will be a rewarding and worthwhile purchase considering your eye for photos you’ve shared on your blog. Have you checked out the ShutterSisters.com site? It has been a daily source of inspiration for me.
