Kids love to see pictures of themselves and to hear the stories that go with them. Our family photo books are always in high circulation for that reason. So it's no surprise that Daphne was excited to receive a regular children's picture book featuring her.
Her photo was on every page and her name was used throughout the book.
The book is one of the latest by I See Me Personalized Children's Books, one of my sponsors, and was sent to us to review. It's called 1-2-3 Blast Off with Me! Letters, Numbers, Colors, Shapes and is written by Jennifer Dewing and Illustrated by Holli Conger.
The very first thing Maia and Daphne did, after opening the book, was go through and point out all the pictures of her and laugh about how she looked in the various hats and outfits throughout the book.
Then Maia read the book to Daphne.
You can take a virtual tour of all the pages here on I See Me's site. They give the age range as 0-10, but I think this book would make a great gift for toddlers in particular. It's a sturdy board book with upbeat rhymes and an intro to basic numbers and letters. Daphne, at 4, knows her alphabet and how to count and her taste in books runs to long fairy tales these days.
That said, she is thrilled with the book and has "read" it on her own a few times since.
What kid wouldn't want to be the main character in their very own book? Seriously. I think the whole idea is brilliant.
If you're considering ordering one, the personalization aspect is easy. You simply fill out a brief online form with the child's name and birthday, and include an inscription ("We Love You! From Mommy and Daddy"). The I See Me! folks take it from there and create a personalized book for your child. The process takes about two weeks, so factor that in if you're ordering one as a gift.
